Liquorice root, when brewed as a herbal tea, has a lovely, sweet character with anise-like finish. The use of liquorice root was first recorded in ancient Egyptian hieroglyphics. A naturally sweet herb (contains up to 14% naturally occurring sugars) it's a great blending herb, especially with chamomile and peppermint.
