How was the Balmoral Tea Blend made?

How did we make the Balmoral Tea Blend?

In June 2019, the team at the Balmoral Estate asked Jenier if we could make a new black tea that showed how Scotland had a hand in making tea the popular drink it is today. We were happy, of course, to be given such a chance. Jenier has been interested in the history of tea in Scotland for a long time, so we were inspired to include tea-growing places where Robert Bruce, James Taylor, and Robert Fortune grew tea. We made a "base" tea profile to build the new recipe around it.
Late in 2019, the final version of The Balmoral Blend was finished, and it is now offered and served at Balmoral Estate.
We're happy that the Balmoral Estate has permitted Jenier to sell this great blend to our customers. It's offered as loose-leaf tea or in 100% biodegradable, plastic-free, compostable Pyramid Tea Bags.

The Balmoral Collection

The Balmoral Estate, located in the heart of Royal Deeside, Scotland, is part of the Crown Estate. As a Scottish holiday home, the Balmoral Castle was built in 1855 for Queen Victoria and Prince Albert.
The Balmoral Blend, Jubilee Blend and Balmoral Darjeeling Blend are all high-quality tea blends created by Jenier that can be purchased as loose-leaf or in biodegradable pyramid tea bags. Each tea is perfectly crafted to balance strength and flavour, making it an ideal beverage for any occasion and available as a pyramid tea bag or loose-leaf tea. The Balmoral Tea Collection is served and sold throughout the visitor centres on the Balmoral Estate, and we're delighted to say they're available for you to buy and sell too! Balmoral Darjeeling Blend and Balmoral Blend have the Royal Crest on their tags.

The Platinum Jubilee Blend

In 2022, Jenier made a Jubilee Blend for the Platinum Jubilee of Her Majesty Queen Elizabeth II. As with The Balmoral Blend, we used teas from China, Sri Lanka, and Assam (India) and flavourful leaves from Kenya's Nandi Highlands. To give it a little twist, we used 100% natural bergamot oil to give it a hint of Earl Grey, which smells stronger than it tastes when brewed. We also wanted to make a tea that looked good enough for such an event, so we added blue, red, and white cornflowers, which give the blend a wonderful splash of colour.
The Platinum Jubilee tea is also sold in Pyramid Tea Bags that are 100% biodegradable and compostable.
