Classic Moroccan Mint Green Tea is made with spearmint leaves and gunpowder green tea from China. The small, pinhead-sized gunpowder green tea tastes much better when spearmint leaves are added. Once the tea has steeped, add sugar to give it a traditional flavour.

History Of Moroccan Mint Green Tea

Moroccan Mint green tea is a traditional tea enjoyed in Morocco for centuries. It is a blend of green tea leaves and fresh mint leaves and is typically served hot and sweetened with sugar. The origins of Moroccan Mint green tea can be traced back to the 12th century when tea was first introduced to Morocco by traders from China. However, in the 18th century, the addition of mint became a widespread practice. It is believed that the mint was added to help aid digestion and counteract the tea's bitterness.
The flavour profile of Moroccan Mint green tea is refreshing and invigorating, with a strong mint aroma and a slightly sweet taste. The green tea provides a subtle earthy flavour, while the mint adds a cool and refreshing sensation to the palate.
Moroccan Mint green tea is often a symbol of hospitality in Morocco. It is traditionally poured from a height to create a frothy foam. Serving small snacks or sweets alongside the tea is common, such as nuts or dates.
