Duchess Earl Grey Tea in pyramid tea bags is a delightful way to enjoy this very popular twist on our traditional Earl Grey Tea blend. The citrus flavours of lime leaves, and orange pieces burst through every sip without compromising the full-bodied taste you'll experience from the careful combination of high quality Ceylon tea and premium bergamot oil.

Why add orange pieces?

Flavour: Orange pieces, when added to Earl Grey, infuse the tea with sweet, tangy notes that complement Earl Grey's inherent citrus quality. The natural sugars in the orange enhance the tea's sweetness, making it more vibrant and warmer.
Aroma: The essential oils in the orange zest intensify the citrus aroma, making it more pronounced and complex. This intensity can make the tea feel fresher and more invigorating.
Mouthfeel: The added texture from the fruit pieces can provide a subtle richness, making the tea feel slightly fuller.

Why add lime leaves?

Flavour: Lime leaves bring a whole new dimension to Earl Grey tea with their unique and intensely citrusy flavour. Their hints of green, herbaceous notes and a slight peppery undertone can accentuate the spice notes sometimes detectable in black tea, creating an intriguing and exciting taste experience.
Aroma: The addition of lime leaves can take the citrus aroma of Earl Grey tea to new heights. Their scent, when mingled with the bergamot, creates a more layered and exotic aroma, enhancing the overall complexity and refreshing nature of the tea.
Mouthfeel: Lime leaves might not significantly alter mouthfeel unless crushed to release more oils and flavours.

The Enigma Variations of a Duchess

Posted by Bill Borodenko on Mar 21, 2024

OK I have drank this tea now four times and it is so wonderfully intoxicating that each time it plays differently on my taste buds. An Amalfi rose garden is the Romantic Setting for this tea as there is a heady mix of Damask Roses & Lemons. A twist of lime takes it into different territory far from Grey.
