Bukhial TGFOP Assam loose leaf tea (TGFOP stands for "Tippy Golden Flowery Orange Pekoe,") is a high-quality, full-bodied black tea noted for its rich malty flavour, bright colour, and the presence of abundant 'tips', which are young tea leaves that add a unique taste and aroma.

Growing Region

Bukhial TGFOP has a traditional leaf style and is grown on the south side of the Brahmaputra River near the remote region of Nagaland. As rainfall is lower in this area, the bushes grow more slowly, yielding outstanding crops that have all the flavour and strength you would expect from a top Assam tea estate.

Production

This Assam tea undergoes a careful, traditional production process. Tea leaves are handpicked, primarily in the summer, during the second period of growth known as the "second flush." These leaves are then oxidised, a chemical process that changes their colour from green to dark brown and enhances their malty flavour. Following this, the tea is dried, sorted, and graded into categories, with TGFOP being one of the highest grades.

Drinking a black tea is known to yield several health benefits. Black tea is rich in antioxidants called polyphenols, which may help protect against chronic diseases like heart disease and cancer.
